This was our first trip to the Wellingborough festival, but we found ourselves in a group with some familiar faces and some teams new to us.
We lost all three matches, mainly due to inconsistancy. We know the rules (we gave away far fewer penalties than the teams we were playing), we know and have the skills, there was some very impressive play some of the time, we are just not applying them all the time.
Man of the match was a difficult decision today. It could go to the whole team for the defensive display in the match against Olney, four times in quick succession Olney crossed the line only to be held up and pushed back every time.
It could go to Alec who has finally learned which way is forward and put in some impressive runs often getting good yards after the first tackle as he dragged a defender or two along with him.
It could go to James who scored the only tries of the day with excellent solo runs.
It could go to Josh, who certainly gets tackler of the day going in low and hard every time.
Alfie, not afraid to get stuck in, William and Thomas much more getting into the action than before, Harry who ran miles (but not always forwards), Brayden, always there at the ruck, Francis, contributing at scrum half.
But for his all round contribution, running with the ball in attack and crunching tackles in defence, todays man of the match is Carrick.
